Yes and Amen

For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (AMP)

Both parts of this verse just blow me away.  First, when I think of all the promises of God I feel small and yet infinitely blessed. Second, our only obligation to Christ is to say “Amen” to be in agreement with His glory, His lordship over our lives. Then we get to walk in all the promises of God.

All we have to do is acknowledge Him in all things and let Him make the decisions in our lives great and small then all the promises of God are released on us.


                    Yet… In my daily life, the pain, busyness and monotony —- the sheer exhaustion seems to suck out the “Amen” from me before I can utter it.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You deserve all the praise and I desire to give it to You. Teach me of Your ways, reveal Your heart to me, take me deeper and deeper so that I might dwell where You are in my everyday life. Reign in my wandering heart and mind to keep them focused on You and Your promises. Teach me what it is to dwell in the secret place and abide under Your shadow in every moment not just those I deem sacred. You have given me my life and every moment of it. I acknowledge You have chosen me and set me apart for Your good pleasure remind me; that all time is Your time. I surrender my moments to You have Your way Lord, Jesus. Amen

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.


Squeaked by…

Revelation 21:19-21  

The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,  the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. Wow! If that’s what heavens gates look like just barely a glimpse within. No wonder people just want to squeak in. Salvation with a big sigh of relief. “Just made it”- victory dance and more than a few high fives.

Is there more than just the gates?

Why work for a closer relationship to Christ?

I too am guilty of just seeking His glory and am frightened to trust deeper. I refuse to live by fear but instead cling to His promises.

1 Corinthians 2:9  (NIV)

However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
    the things God has prepared for those who love him


Prayer: Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You in all things not just at the entrance but in the journey. Walk with me and teach me my heart. Open my eyes to the movement of heaven on earth. Search me and burn off what is chaff. Embolden my life to seek after what quickens Your heart. I desire Your throne room and not just Your gates. Thank You, Jesus in Your name. Amen.

Trust until???

My hands crash through my purse frantic to find the keys.  Their cold metal would be a delight to my fingertips, my heart races certainly; these are it. I pull out a finger nail file.

Panic no longer in the backseat but in full control, accusations fly at my children, “Did you move them?

I always put them in my purse!

I’m going back through the parking lot and the store.  Watch the girls, boys”

In a dead sprint, I look back in the drizzling rain to see the pathetic faces of my three, seven and twelve year old children, my hand slides down in defeat and makes contact with the keys attached to the ring of my purse strap.

There are more times than I want to admit when I left the most important thing to chase after the lesser thing spurred on by panic.

In the above, scenario I left my precious children alone and vulnerable in the cold and dangerously dark parking lot in order to chase keys the thing I thought I really needed.

How many of us if we are honest have left the safety of operating in God’s will in order to chase something else that sounded good and seemed important?

Where was my trust in God that cold night?

It’s easy to look back and see where my trust was – in my own abilities to rescue us, the keys. I chose to look at the cold, dark world and see its power and not the Savior I serve.


Where in the bible does it say:

Trust until?

  • Trust until it doesn’t make since
  • Trust until you are in pain
  • Trust until your children are hurting.
  • Trust until your circumstances don’t match your dreams
  • Trust until it gets really hard
  • Trust until you did what other Christians told you to do and it still didn’t work
  • Trust until you are disappointed
  • Trust until you lose your business.


This is one of the promises of God.

Psalm 84:12

O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]! (AMPC)


I have been ruminating on this promise and concluded the simple and difficult fact is you are blessed when you get out of your own way.  When you don’t choose to try to control life but instead give full trust where it is due, Christ Jesus.


I can attest to the truth of Proverbs 3: 5-6, whenever I chose my own wisdom life takes very drastic and unfortunate turns. When I rely on Him my path becomes steady and true.  The word easy doesn’t come to mind when I think of the current path of my life but steady is accurate.  God the great provider is faithful to continue to bring me forward.


Proverbs 3:5-6

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. (AMPC)



Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to remember in the very moment of panic, anxiety and worry to trust in You.  To stop and breathe and allow the living and powerful God within me to take control.  Let my hands and feet and the speech from my mouth be an extension of Christ’s purposes.  Help me to navigate this dark world and bring Your Light to the hurting. Let the pursuit of my heart always be You.  Your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.  Let it be so in my life.  That I fulfill Your will with immediate and full obedience. You are worthy of my trust and I proclaim my trust is in You- Christ Jesus. Thank You, Amen.




“Who came up with this idea- Ugh?” I grunted as I smacked yet another mosquito lunching on my forearm.

My daughter’s attempts at smashing the already bent portion of one tent rod into the other one go on perpetually thwarted by the less than comical other side popping out the second she got the current one in.

At my wits end I call for a truce with the tent.  My grumbly group of four mosquito bitten children stand at the ready for their fearless leader’s next command.

“Okay guys this is it, if we can’t do it this round we wait for dad.  New plan Gabe you go to that end and hold it, Gavin this end Grace and I will hold one side and finish it completely before going to the next, and Abby you continue to scream as only a 2 year old can while jamming your finger up my nose and clinging to the only free arm I have left.”  “ I am about to do something drastic, I will read the tents instructions”.

We always had what we needed the right amount of hands and the right amount of desire to see the task through. We even had the folded un-opened instruction sheet.  We were in no way whatsoever communicating and moving as a unit.  We were all doing our best in the way that we thought was best- never consulting the tent manufacturer’s directions.

We have the instruction manual on how to do life.  We just need to open it up.  Is it time yet to call a truce on the battles in your life and ask the Creator for His plan?

Psalm 143:8

Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul.


Prayer: Lord Jesus I trust in You with not only my salvation but my life.  I lay down my life and give up trying to do my best in the way that I think best.  I want to hear Your lovingkindness every morning.  Teach me how to walk.  I need Your presence and guidance.  Thank you, Jesus.  Amen


Gratefulness= a great fullness, complete, over-flowing, without angst or ache for anything more.file9431246807003

Rejoice in all things, my ears received that Truth but my heart has not fully developed the understanding of the need for thankfulness to experience the joy.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things” (Philippians 4:6-8).

Somehow I missed the word thankful, my shallow eyes sadden me.   I had always concentrated on the part that I have to do, not the part that I have to be.  The doing part is the guarding of our hearts and the taking our thoughts captive.  The being part is the thankfulness.

Some of you may be wondering about the depravity of my soul.  Questions such as what has she done or how dark and deluded is her heart?  This depth of conviction was activated as I listened to myself in the simple act of complaining.  Complaining is a deadly past time that should not be endured. It eats at our hearts and burns out our joy.


Cast it out and embrace- Gratefulness=Great Fullness.

Prayer: I trust You Lord Jesus. Take me where I must go and I will entrust the fullness of me, to Your care.  So that I might witness and see with renewed eyes the gifts You have given.  Thank you Father God I am grateful for Your friendship and kindness, but most of all during this sliver of time Your faithfulness.  Love, your daughter Heather.

When I read this definition it brought home the absurdity of my state of being- ungrateful.  There can be no doubt that I am indebted, obligated and beholden to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things.  I somehow forgot along the way to let my thankfulness penetrate to my heart.  So that out of the overflow of my heart- thankfulness would be spoken.

Gratefulness is the only logical state of being for a Christ follower.

Fall forward

As you practice walking,  you only get more controlled with your falling.  Walking should never be taken for granted.  There is a trust inherently needed to move.

We have ‘right thinking’ when we suppose that it’s not safe to move, if we do so by our own power.

Lord Jesus we ask that the Word become flesh to us, so that we might live out- Ephesians 1:17-23

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives us a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].  And [I pray] that the eyes of our hearts [the very center and core of our beings] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that we will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called us, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people),  and [so that we will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength,which He produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places,  far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come.  And He put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church,  which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].

Lord Jesus hear our prayer fill us with your wisdom and knowledge so that we might walk the walk you have laid out for us.  Grant us the ability to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. So that we might walk where we thought it impossible.  All things are possible with you Christ.  Thank you, Jesus Amen.



Courage and Trust

Great is the glory of the Lord. You grow in might and stature within my heart with every breathe I receive from You.

Cleanse our speech and purify our words to impart Your truth to those we love. Break apart anything within us that blocks our union with You.

Grant us the knowledge of who we are, so that we might face all challenges with courage and walk upright with integrity.

Lord God, merciful God it is our deepest desire to be filled with the fullness of God, that we may have the richest measure of the divine Presence. For we are convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither this present age nor the future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Help us to sit in the stillness of Your peace and let Your love become fully realized in us. Let our trust in You be complete so that we run beneath your wings to find refuge. We declare His faithfulness will be our shield and rampart at every storm.

Your joy gives us strength to be the fulfillment of Your love to our family and friends. Pour Your favor and anointing out upon us and our families so that we might carry out Your will.

We lift up our voices to praise You our living God. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, holy, holy, holy is the Lord, God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come. All blessing and praise and honor to our King.
