Overwhelmed by a life!

I have the overwhelming privilege of gathering photos for my father in laws service. Jim Sr. is in the process of dying and very much like a birth; this is a time of reflection and anticipation.  I anxiously await his heaven birthday where he will no longer be in pain. My husband is working on the eulogy and is prayerfully considering what to say.

In his life, he has many roles:

A father

A grandpa

jim and pat couch

A lover of animals

jim and dog

Jim Sr. was a firefighter, bus driver- mechanic and a husband to name a few of his roles.  He is so many things but non greater than a child of God. His choice to follow Jesus has made all the difference in his life and the lives of those who love him.  We are anticipating an eternal life instead of dreading the loss of an earthly one.  Thank You, Jesus for your mercy on him and on those who love him.

Please join me in praying.

Lord Jesus, we plead the Blood over Jim Sr. that he be released from his earthly body and its death and instead be received into the Kingdom of God with joy.  Let Your peace reign as He transitions to life.  Cancer you cannot keep him bound to his body and pain any longer, be gone in Jesus name.  Christ receives him.  Thank You, Jesus.  By the gift of Your precious blood, let his family and friends and all those he touched rest in Your peace.  Amen.

Courage and Trust

pic of family praying

Great is the glory of the Lord. You grow in might and stature within my heart with every breathe I receive from You.

Cleanse our speech and purify our words to impart Your truth to those we love. Break apart anything within us that blocks our union with You.

Grant us the knowledge of who we are, so that we might face all challenges with courage and walk upright with integrity.

Lord God, merciful God it is our deepest desire to be filled with the fullness of God, that we may have the richest measure of the divine Presence. For we are convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither this present age nor the future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Help us to sit in the stillness of Your peace and let Your love become fully realized in us. Let our trust in You be complete so that we run beneath your wings to find refuge. We declare His faithfulness will be our shield and rampart at every storm.

Your joy gives us strength to be the fulfillment of Your love to our family and friends. Pour Your favor and anointing out upon us and our families so that we might carry out Your will.

We lift up our voices to praise You our living God. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, holy, holy, holy is the Lord, God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come. All blessing and praise and honor to our King.

Amen.

Tragedy Struck, Joy Found

picofjoy   Tragedy Struck, Joy Found

Be still.  How many times have I been told this in various ways throughout my life? If I’m honest more times that I care to admit.

To be shown stillness by human example is humbling. I was at Write to Publish, a writer’s conference, when a living model of stillness stood before me.  Joy Ware Miller, radiated peace.  As I listened to her presentation on Logos, her voice flowed with light and life and her inner peace soothed me. Where did this light and life come from?  She navigated the computer program with ease and confidence, but this was certainly not the source of her gentle-strength.  I was intrigued.

Jesus reveals himself in our lives if we seek this knowledge.  Depth of strength and peace evident to others comes only from Jesus, often through enabling us to triumph over tragedy.  I sat down next to Joy, calmed by her presence and curious about her story.  We were at the Write to Publish conference, in the hallway designed as passageways from one location to another.  In this passageway, the Lord taught me a wealth of information beyond what could have been imparted in the classroom. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it (Matt 7:14 New Living Translation).  Joy, submitted to Christ’s authorship of her life, and the results are breathtaking to behold.  As I absorbed her story, God transformed my inner being, deepening my understanding of Christ’s mentorship. That one choice to stay, and be still, listening to another woman describe her movement through life, changed my path. As she described my worst nightmare as a mother, she moved from pain to understanding in what I perceived as light speed. Her only boy left the safety of their home and never returned. She walked through this pain to emerge triumphant and empowered, to deliver Christ’s message.  I will be eternally grateful that I found that path, in the hallway of the http://www.writetopublish.com  conference. Joy Miller offers Christ’s transforming message in her book, There’s A Party in The Pit…. And You’re Invited! She can be reached at www.iJoyinspirations.com.  Joy Ware Miller is an author, speaker and radio host.  I will be reviewing her book in a later blog entry.  Parents on Call, is her ministry to reach parents who have lost a child.

Pray: Lord Jesus, thank you for slowing me down and giving me divine connections, people who help us to see you.  Jesus, I need your presence in my life, and I ask that you continue to bless me with your mentoring hand.  I surrender myself to your transforming path for me.  You know best, and I will humble myself before you in order to receive your wisdom.  Thank you, Jesus, for your gentle guidance.  I love and need you. Amen.
