Flattened dreams = No praise?

Dreams of chocolate chip goodness wafting through the house promises of a warm, gooey and tasty delight.

“I should have checked to see if we had all the ingredients kids, sorry.”

Promises shattered we stared into a bowl full of ingredients but devoid of baking soda. Without baking soda, the mixture would be flat, dense and unrecognizable as cookies. All of that work not to mention drooling for nothing?!

What is the one ingredient if left out of your spiritual life will create flattened and lifeless Christians?

  • Is our purpose
  • Is the highest form of warfare
  • Is arguably the most individualistic ingredient in our Christian walk
  • Is a point Christians seem to ridicule the most (to raise hands or not to, to dance, or sway or even to bring out banners, flags etc. or to stand with hands folded across our chest)
  • Praise scares the daylights out of Satan and his minions because it negates every curse he could ever think to lay on us

What is stopping you from praising?

Your circumstances? God forbid.  Praise releases you from your rotten circumstances and unleashes God’s promises into your life.

We cannot go down aisle #4 and pick up some praise to add to our Christian walk but we can begin where we are at and build from there.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (AMP)

7 for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]—

When we begin to take account of His promises and live not by sight but by faith. Praise naturally explodes from within us.  You can’t hold it back any more than if you tried to hold your breath your body would burst out into life.

If your life looks like a rotten pile of steaming junk, do not speak life and strength into your rotten circumstances.  Speak glory and praise onto the Lord of your salvation.  Did He save you or not? If He saved you once, He can do it again.

Please pray with me to release God’s will.

I praise You for Your promises You say You will supply all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.  How great are the riches found in the depths of Jesus- I seek those riches, grant me my heart’s desire to know and walk within Your promises.  I proclaim that I seek the Lord, restore my heart to You as You grant me my heart’s desire- Your Presence.  You know the plans you have for me and they are for good.  Help me to rest in Your goodness.  Darken my eyes to the world and awaken the eyes and ears of my heart to Your Kingdom.  Let Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.  My life is Yours and I praise You for my finances for what You have given me and for the provisions that are to come.  Every knee shall bow to the glory of Christ Jesus and I bow now.  Your ways are so far above my ways.  Holy, holy, holy great is the Lord God almighty and greatly He is to be praised.  I lift my life as a living sacrifice available for Your great plans.  I desire my obedience and praise on earth to match my obedience and praise I live out in heaven.  My joy leaps within me let my praises lift You higher.  Please forgive me of where I had You seated in my life previously.  Cover me in the blood of the Lamb who is worthy to be praised.  Awaken the sleepers let the shofar blast be sounded- I will be found in You.  I proclaim and declare as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.  Teach me what it is to abide in You and You in me. My great and glorious Lord I praise You. Thank You, for loving me.  Amen.

Does God ask you to praise for His benefit or yours? (consider this question as you enter this time of thanksgiving)

What do you need to praise for?  Let me know and I will praise with you.

Triumph of Faith?

To understand faith we must go beyond the first glance and begin to search the depths.

Faith is trust, hope and the understanding of Christ’s character outside of the concept of earthly time.  We can only trust if we understand the character of God.  We can only have hope if we allow God’s will and timing to exceed our own desires for immediate reward.  Faith by its very nature cannot be advanced without the expansion of time. There must be a laying down of human expectations in order to receive Christ’s supernatural miracles.

No God= No miracles. And yet in our haste and impatience we short circuit the miracles of God.

God promises much if we operate in faith.

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (NIV)

To act in faith is to expectantly move and (BE) before the path is unveiled.  Being is harder than doing. It requires stillness, a self-cleaning setting to identify what is not of God and toss it out.  If it does not strengthen our faith eliminate it.

Eradicate thoughts, words, vocabulary of disbelief, and then actions fall into alignment with God’s word allowing faith to emerge. People often move in faith quite well.  To be in faith, now that is difficult. To be in faith is a greater thing.

Narrow is the gate, as we walk through it allow it to squeeze out any lack of faith. See, Matthew 7:13-14.

Faith is identified as one of the spiritual gifts therefore it can be given. Reference 1 Cor. 12:1-11 to review a great teaching on the spiritual gifts.  God is willing and able to give faith, if we have the courage to ask.

Do you have the courage to ask for faith?

If you are unwilling or lack the courage to ask for faith know this-

There are times we can move within works carrying out our Father’s will on earth as it is in heaven but only for a time, if we have not mastered the skill of being in faith.

I am not throwing out James’s statements without works our faith is dead.  I whole-heartedly agree.  But if our being is wrong and our understanding of God is wrong our works will be lifeless.  They will be puffed up and self-serving.  Without being in faith you cannot conform your will to Christ’s.

Someone once said the only thing we can give God on this side of heaven is Faith, In heaven there is no faith only sight. Seek out faith now, while you are still breathing, so that you might give your full obedience to Christ a living sacrifice.

(The following prayer is only for those who are ready to leave the old and walk into a new level of relationship with Christ- absolute trust)

Prayer:  Lord Jesus I surrender my being to you.  Fill me with an understanding of Your character.  Teach me of You so I might lose my selfish will in Your glory.  Lord Jesus, I give You permission to grow my faith and move within me at a level I have never experienced before.  Take Your servant and do as You want, in order for Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.  We praise You Jesus and in Your name we say, Amen- let it be.

Careening around a corner the windshield wipers frantic in their pursuit of clear vision, the sun exploded in front of my eyes.  So intent on survival in the down pour, the sudden bright illumination confounded me.  What was that?  I have been in a place of strife and confusion as the Lord is shifting my life.  This movement and change has left me desperate for clear vision.  The sudden fulfillment of this desire was blinding.  The Lord had allowed me to experience a period of downpour, disillusionment and angst in order to demonstrate His glory and perfect vision,-when the light crashed in.

I am a slow learner and require extreme contrasts in order to experience revelation.  I needed to be in a season of storms in order for the Lord to work out of me, self-reliance.  I have been in a holding pattern as I await the Lord’s movement.  There is nothing like waiting for the Lord, that brings out my innate desire to want to jump at relief.   Some sort of movement to ease the pain of waiting.  This has been an almost un-bearable time of trusting and waiting.

Then God showed up.  Mountains were leveled.  Things I believed were insurmountable, gone wiped out.  The sonic boom of God’s being enters, before His Presence ever fully manifests.  Every knee will bow, this isn’t just for some future day.  This is for today.  Choose to bow your knee to the Lord.  Someday every knee will bow- there will be no choice.  Choose to do so with ridiculous faith in the face of your current mess.  There are many things that will be accomplished within us when we reach the other side of heaven.  The only thing that can be accomplished on earth that cannot be accomplished in heaven is acting on our faith.  In heaven our faith will be sight, there will be no opportunities to ‘act in faith’.  Go ahead, be bold in your obedience and faith walk.    Whether your boldness must come in the form of submissive waiting or with the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, fully drawn and ready for combat. God will provide our circumstances, we must mix in our obedience and the beauty of this combined work will be a demonstration of faith.

I pray your faith will be bold!

Prayer: Lord Jesus you know our hearts; both its treachery and beauty.  Restore our hearts to their creation design.   Show us that next step.  Create the path and we will walk it. We declare and proclaim that we will live our faith boldly.  Give us the strength to do so. Thank you for being faithful to work out, from within us, what is holding us back from a deeper relationship with You.    Thank you, Jesus Amen.

Shadow of a doubt.

candle-no shadow

Shadow of a doubt

A flame does not create a shadow. Light is incapable of tolerating darkness it only knows how to dispel it. John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (NKJV). We cannot tolerate a shadow of a doubt.

There’s nothing like doubt to crush faith. It never starts out as a crushing pain but more as a subtle inkling. A minor itch of the mind that begs for scratching. The itching of the deviant named ‘doubt’ is what starts that crack in our shield of faith. Hindering our ability to grab a hold of the promises of God. Casting out doubt is a daily necessity. We must diligently tend to this chore.

Pray: Lord Jesus I cast out doubt in Your precious name and authority. Let me live in your boldness of faith, so that I might reach out and grab hold of the lost. Establish within me Your dwelling place, a tower of refuge from which to draw strength. Grant me wave after wave of Your love so that I might sit in the stillness of Your truth and rest. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Walking on water? Or stuck in the mud?

photo (28)   Why did the Jewish people, newly freed from the Egyptians, flee across the parted red sea?

I believe it was out of Fear.  Fear drove them into the sea and got them across allowing them to see the destruction of their oppressors.  Shortly there after they went back to their whining, doubting ways.  If we are motivated by fear we will have the motivation to get away from something, but then what?  What are you running into? When in that heightened state of fear we are only acting on instinct of escape, we have no thoughts of the future.  We run and crash and run and crash over and over.

In contrast look at Matthew 14: 22-32.

Jesus has just fed the 5,000 and goes to recharge with His Father in prayer.  He sends His disciples ahead of Him.  In the early morning or during bible times they would say in the watching hours of the night.  Jesus is seen walking on the water toward them.  The disciples are frightened believing that they are seeing a ghost.  The bible describes wind and waves and an atmosphere of fear.  Yet,Peter!  Peter calls to the Lord and says if its you call me and I will come.  Peter is looking forward, focusing on, running to something, toward a future, toward the only hope of mankind.  His intensity of desire and love for something more, something only Jesus can give, drives him forward. I believe because of his faith he knew full well the wind and waves were there but stepped out anyway, walking toward Jesus.  The bible doesn’t say how far he got that’s all speculation.  It could have been two steps or it could have been 1/4 of a mile.  We don’t know, we only know his focus on Jesus was lost and he began to fear because he looked at the world.  I look at the world and also know fear.  Peter triumphed over all the other disciples then and now, and walked on water, the only all human to do so.  When we step out on the water and trust, really trust Jesus we triumph.

Don’t concentrate on the world, don’t even concentrate on how far Jesus is away from you.  Focus, focus only on Your Savior and He will sustain you and He will pull you up when you fall.  Then you will not only live, but triumph! You will be able to do things, through Christ, that aren’t humanely possible.  Then and now God is a God of miracles.

Pray: Lord Jesus I trust in You.  I trust that You and You alone can save me.  Help me to not concentrate on this world, but to focus on You Jesus.  Give me a hunger for You.  A hunger rarely seen in this world.  My love for You is the only thing that sustains me.  Jesus sometimes I want to curl up into a ball.  Help me to run toward You, across water, waves and storms.  I commit my life to You.  Direct my feet onto Your path.  You say that the road to heaven is narrow and few find it.  Lord Jesus help me to find it and bind my feet, tongue, heart and will onto Your path.  Jesus thank You.  I am fearful and weak without You.  Sustain my heart, Jesus.  I love you, your daughter Heather.
