As mothers we only have so much of us to go around
Time + Energy +$ + Emotional Health
Time= Time is finite? What can you remove from your day/schedule to free up this precious resource? What should be added if necessary? If you add what can be removed?
Energy=Who am I listening to? Are you listening to people or the media that is tearing you down as a mother or building you up? The bible says, “The joy of the Lord is my strength” Pray for strength daily. My prayer daily is Lord let me find joy in the little things today. Evaluate every situation you choose for your children and ask yourself is this bringing us any eternal rewards or is this just an energy sucker. There are things in our lives that require huge amounts of energy but give us eternal rewards that will not only positively affect this generation but many generations to follow. This is where we are called to spend our time. Ask the Lord to give you discernment to know what is the difference between not only what is good and bad but what is best for your family.
Money$= The bible devotes a large number of passages to money and how we spend it. How we spend our money tells us a lot about our priorities. I invite you to spend some time and look at how you spend your money. One of the gifts God gave us with the failure of my husbands business was the need to really evaluate how we spend our money. We then needed to re-align our priorities with our spending. It is amazing how quickly our spending can veer off from our values. Some questions to ask yourself are, “What is the top priorities and values of our home?””Does this purchase or investment benefit eternal or worldly causes?” ” What would we like to save up for?” “How can we find the ability to save?” As you go through this process I personally had to continually remind myself when entering a store that my purchases no matter how small were worth analyzing. I pray: Lord Jesus help me to see my resources how You see them so that I might make wise choices.
Emotional Health= Who answers the question for you, “Who am I?” If you let other humans decide this for you, your answer will be very subject to change depending on if you are measuring up to their fickle standards. No human no matter how sympathetic, empathetic or caring will be able to answer this question for you in anyway that will match what the maker of the Universe thinks about you.
Revelation 1:8 (NIV)“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
He is unchanging so his views on you, your purposes and His love for you do not falter. Psalms 33:11 says, But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
He has laid out his purposes for you, long before you were born and they do not change. If you align yourself with God and obediently walk the path He has planned for you your emotional health and energy will be focused and true. Proverbs 3:5-6 states, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. I pray: Lord Jesus direct us onto your path and if we differ from your path crack us back into alignment. The kids always finish the last part of the prayer with a shout.
Ask the Lord, Who am I? His holy word has a lot to say about this.
